Tulip Time

       (images via Google Image)

I am packing my bags for a short trip home to Washington State. As luck would have it, my trip happens to fall during the famous Skagit Valley Tulip Festival which takes place only in the month of April. This festival reminds me of poignant memories growing up; as a child it was a yearly tradition to attend the tulip festival with my mom and sister. My mom allowed us to each buy a few bulbs of our favorite tulip we saw at the festival that year, which we would then plant in our yard. I look forward to discovering traditions with my future daughter such as this one.

Diaper Bag Dilemma

I have been on the hunt for the perfect Diaper bag for quite some time now. I thought this would be an easy task since I can earnestly state I am a handbag "expert" (if applying the 10,000 hours rule).

However, I have quickly discovered diaper bags are in a league of their own. These bags need to be equipped with changing pads, easy access compartments and made with water and stain resistant materials.

The Danzo Diaper bag seems to meet all these criteria. It also has detachable compartments that you can customize with different labels for fool proof organization.

Patio Party

Recently, I have been dreaming up ideas to create a child friendly yet sophisticated environment for our patio. These iconic images from a 2005 W Magazine represent just that. I also admire the 60's inspired attire, especially this green day gown in the bottom images.

Nesting Project

BEFORE:

 AFTER:

As of late, one of my top priorities has been to turn our house into a home. We recently moved into a new place with plenty of space for my growing family. It has been a daunting task to decorate especially since our former place was an 800 square foot apartment. I was tempted to go into Ikea or West Elm and buy everything in one fell swoop. I quickly decided against this notion as I knew I couldn't achieve the aesthetic and character I was dreaming of, after all Rome was not built in one day.

After numerous trips to flea markets, estate sales and numerous hours searching eBay and Etsy. I found a rare gem for $45.00.  It isa  Mid Century radio unit. (The bottom portion is the speakers and the radio dials are enclosed by the wood top).

The piece was fairly beat up but with a little TLC and several trips to Home Depot to pick up sand paper, seal and a semi gloss finish; a perfect table to house our mini bar was achieved.

Baby Moon

Last week I went to Maui to soak up some sun and relish one last peaceful vacation before the pitter padder of little feet, also known as a "BabyMoon".  Pictured above are some of the essentials I brought for my last hurrah. JCrew cover up, Sam Edelman sandal, Raen sunnies, PackableStraw Hat.

Before my trip I visited an organic spray tan studio called Lavish Tan. The natural solution is also paraben and fragrance free. The airbrush tans are a bit pricey but they do offer a "Happy Hour" special from 2PM-5PM Mondays and Tuesdays.

Summer Breeze Hair

I have always been jealous of hair that can accomplish the soft beachy texture. On a recent trip to Hawaii I decided to see if I could master the look with the help of Aquage sea salt texturing spray. I was pleasently surprised by its affect on my typically thin, limp hair.
